Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers

Scholarship Description: Submit an application if you are a researcher from abroad with above average qualifications, at the beginning of your academic career and only completed your doctorate in the last four years. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers allows you to carry out a long-term research project (6-24 months) you have selected yourself in cooperation with an academic host you have selected yourself at a research institution in Germany.
Scientists and scholars of all nationalities and disciplines may apply to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation directly at any time. The Humboldt Foundation grants approximately 600 Humboldt Research Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers and experienced researchers annually. Short-term study visits, participation in congresses and training courses cannot be financed.

Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia offers PhD positions in Economics to international students of outstanding academic merit. Applicants must:

• Hold a Masters degree with thesis component or an honours degree in Economics or related fields (students with a science or engineering background, who are interested in applying their analytical skills to the study of problems relevant to economics, are also welcome to apply);

• Not be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand;


• Satisfy all academic requirements for entry to the PhD program including English proficiency levels.

Positions are for three years, and include tuition fee for PhD study, health insurance, and some stipend. Positions involve research and teaching assistantship as well. The available financial support should help cover modest living expenses in Melbourne during the study period.

Applicants are invited for a full-time PhD studentship within the Department of Psychology, City University, London.

The studentship is available to both UK/EU and overseas fee-paying students and is only to new applicants who will be studying full-time. The studentship, starting 1 October 2010, includes a bursary of £14,000 per annum (in addition to a full tuition fee waiver) for three years. The studentship also includes £1,000, which may be used across the three year period to cover the cost of conference attendance by the student, equipment purchase or other activity in support of the research. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake some form of teaching support activity of up to 150 hours per academic year as part of the bursary arrangements.
